Pre-2004 Quilts                                To see "More Pre-2004 Quilts"

Family Reunion 2000 - In the center is my grandmother with her 12 children. Those no longer attached to the tree were deceased by 2000.  Unfortunately, I have 2 more to remove from the tree, if I decide to make this an update project.  The photos outside the tree are most of the children (cousins) of my grandmother's children. You know that you have some people who will not send pictures. They regretted their mistake when it was shown at the reunion. (Smile)

And Waved At Me - This pattern was distributed on the internet for free immediately after nine-eleven.  The author's story about her childhood memories prompted me to make this my 911 memory quilt.  2001  Free online pattern from:  http://members.aol.com/qltblockcenter/quilt.html.

God Bless - Another patriotic quilt made to enlarge my display.  2002

Internet Mystery - One of the Inspector Cluesew's mysteries.  It was thrilling awaiting the next clues. 2001

Twisting Stars:  I just loved making this small quilt.  The half-square triangle paper was used in a different manner to create the star points. 2003

Daffodils:  A Mitered Border Challenge: This quilt from Quiltmaker's Magazine was a joy to make.  I just couldn't wait until it was finished.  That is until I got to make my first mitered corners.  Although I was not very successful, this quilt is one of my favorites.   2001

Barn Raised Bulls-eye:  Although not the best photo to enhance this quilt, It turned out rather nicely.  I added the twist of the barn raising to this setting to make it different.  2001

Butterfly Kaleidoscope:  This was my fourth stack-n-whack project.  I became addicted and just couldn't stop.  I'm now in AA and although I slip occasionally, I now have my problem under control.  6/15/01 to 7/29/01

Twist 'n Turn:  My friend won the guild's optional blocks and did not like them, so I inherited them.  Since the challenge of the blocks being every size from 9-1/2" to 11", I had to have a technique that would accommodate the difference in the blocks.  Low and behold, in my stash is the book, Twist 'n Turn and it was the solution to my problem.  I call this quilt my 36-hour quilt.  I began this quilt on a Sunday at 11:00am.  and completed piecing on Monday at 2AM.  I took it to a friend's with a long arm and had it quilted by 3:30 p.m.  This was my first experience with a long arm.  Look at the close-up shot.  Didn't I do a pretty good job, considering?  I had the binding on the quilt by 6PM.  Whew!  I can't believe it myself.  March 2003

Elephant Crossing

My second cousin is expecting a baby boy in September and she wanted me to make the baby a quilt.  She wanted a Jamaican quilt as that's the father's homeland.  However, I could not find anything appropriate for a boy.  I used these stack-n-whack blocks I had laying around and added the elephant border.  I thought even though it's not Jamaican, it does look ethnic.  I decided to add  a Jamaican flag on the back to compensate for the lack of theme on the front.  July 2003

Boooo!

I found this pattern on the internet and just had to make it!  8/3/2000

Mr. Scarecrow

Tattered Toby pattern from American Patchwork and Quilting magazine.  7/7/2002.

Marbled Pointless Wonder

I had so much fun making the stars in this quilt.  The marble fabric line is one of my favorite.  I used black sashing to allow the fabrics to sparkle, becoming the center of attention.  Machine Quilted by Sarah Cohen  Began:  2001, Completed:  July 20, 2003 size: 84" x 101"  This quilt won first place in the Machine Bed Quilt category at a show in Mascoutah, Illinois.

Flag Heart

This pattern is from Paper Panache which I pieced a while ago.  On November 11th I set the block on point and added a simple border to get this out of my UFOs.  Completed December 2, 2003

Miniature Double T

I've always wanted a Double T quilt since it could represent my initial.  My dreams were of a bed-size quilt, but I guess this is also true as I made it for a doll bed.  LOL  Each "T" block is 1" finished. July 4-11, 2002

Ribbit -  This was a fun quilt to make as I loved the wonderful colors of the frogs.  While showing off the quilt, one of my co-workers stated that the frogs are poisonous.  As I am scared of any living creatures other than humans, I had no idea.  Just imagine when this child is 4 years old and wants a frog like one he has on his quilt.  Who said quilting wasn't educational.   April 18, 2003

Greater St. Louis Metropolitan Shop Hop - This quilt was made to commemorate the 1st annual shop hop in our area.  We had eleven shops this year and each provided a sample block.  After deciding that I needed one more block, I made the block depicting the St. Louis Arch with a quilt shop.  August 2001

Yellow Brick Road - Made November 2003 an Atkinson Design

Running in Circles - An internet mystery quilt.  Began August 2000 and completed 8/25/2001.  Quilted by Mildred Eads.  I made the pillows in February 2005.

Ironic Conclusions - This quilt I made for a friend's birthday who is an iron-a-holic.  I thought it fitting that she should have a quilt depicting her most enjoyed quilting activity.   Uses herky-jerky machine quilting.  2-2003

Tropical Flowers - My first stack-n-whack quilt.  Shading the center star give this quilt a little more character.  Began 4/21/01   Completed 821/01

Ohio Stars - A small wall hanging that I used to practice my first free-motion quilting.  October 1999

Spring in the Valley - A very quick to make wall hanging that just by changing the fabrics, you can change the season.  Pattern by Sweet Peas  Size:  12" x 15"  July 7, 2000

Blue Cathedral - A very quick strip pieced quilt.  The further away you see this quilt, the more dramatic the design.  November 1999

Autumn's Welcome - A paper-pieced scene from designer, Carol Doak.  I felt the quilt needed more than just a plain border, so I added the tree border.  7/6/2000 to 9/7/2000
