Home    Back to my Round Robin

What I added to other players round robins...

Annie's - Annie made her center into a tree.  I know that I saw this tree somewhere but can't remember.  Anyway, Annie's top screamed to be set on point.  I searched my stash high and low but the only fabric that worked was the blue floral.

Sarah's - My first reaction to Sarah's top was sheer delight.  Sarah titled her center Radiant Fun and she followed through with the use of a very unusual polka dot fabric which was awesome.  With Annie's border, Sunny Mountain Triangles, I knew that my border would have to use stars.  My border, Spinning Stars is the perfect compliment.

Jane's - I liked the bright colors in Jane's quilt; they jumped out at me at first glance.  I like the previous black and white border as well.  I just had to add more eye-popping colors to this top.  The Checkerboard Square border is the result.  I added a small framing strip to separate my border from the previous border.

Nancy's - I loved Nancy's center star block.  I think by far, it has the most pieces in the center, detailing a lot of hard work she put into the start of this quilt.  I had to add my border after the plain border added by Sarah.  I wasn't thrilled with the prospect of following that border as I don't particularly like plaids.  However, I made the perfect border to follow by making a Seminole design with uneven nine-patch corner blocks.   I adore this quilt.  Ben (DH) thinks that instead of sending this top to the next quilter on the list that I should send it to the owner letting her know that this top is DONE!

Maggie's - Wow, another gorgeous quilt top.  I liked the varying color of the center stars paired with the appliquéd leaves and sun.  The next two borders keep everything in perspective.  Although the two borders are some of my favorite, I felt the top had pulled away from the owner's original goal.  I made a photocopy of the leaf design in the center.  I used that pattern to make over 60 fusible appliqué leaves which I fused on my border after adding a curving vine around the perimeter of the quilt top.

Barb's - What talented people we have in this group.  Just when I think I've seen the prettiest quilt top, another comes in.  I appreciate everything about this top.  All before me done a wonderful job.  I received this top a little late and was not able to add a more intricate border that the quilt deserved.  However, I couldn't let it out of my house without my signature, so I added the pieced triangle border.

Shannon's:  I first felt this quilt would be my greatest challenge.  The Southwestern feel of the quilt made me nervous as I've never done this type of theme quilt.  I knew for sure that I would have to purchase fabric for this top.  Would you believe all of the fabric was already in my stash.  I found the pattern in a magazine and adapted it to make the border.  I had so much fun making this border and I used a ruler I'd had in my supplies for years, finally putting my spent money to good use.
